Welcome to ASAAF
Background
The Africa Social Accountability Action Forum (ASAAF) is an initiative managed by the Municipal Development Partnership for Eastern and Southern Africa (MDP-ESA) and supported by the World Bank through the Trust Fund
for
Environmentally and Socially Sustainable Development (TFESSD).
The overall objective of ASAAF is to enhance governance and accountability mechanisms by means of empowering citizens, particularly the poor, to actively participate in the formulation, execution and evaluation of public policies and budgets. It aims to strengthen the capacity in the area of participatory budgeting in Africa with the ultimate objective to improve the responsiveness and accountability of local governments, the quality and coverage of local services.
The beneficiaries of this initiative will include, but not limited to, elected officials, civil servants, technical professionals, universities, NGOs, local government associations, civic groups, and other organizations involved in participatory budgeting in Africa.
ASAAF will coordinate and promote the following activities:
- Networking;
- Knowledge Development;
- Knowledge Dissemination;
- Knowledge exchange, and
- Action support
