Workshop for National Local Government Associations in Africa, 19 – 20
March 2007, Holiday Inn Hotel, Harare Zimbabwe
The Knowledge
Management (KM) Workshop for National Local Government Associations in
Africa was held from the 19th to 20th March 2007
at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Harare, Zimbabwe. The workshop was a joint
initiative of the Municipal Development Partnership for Eastern and
Southern Africa (MDP-ESA) and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities
(FCM) through the African Local Governance Programme (ALGP).
The overall
objective of the workshop was to help promote and support knowledge
management among ALGP implementing partners in particular and National
Local Government Associations in general.
The specific
objectives were:

To
consolidate and validate the KM Guide for Local Government
Associations which was prepared by the ALGP partners in 2006;

To
introduce participants to the concept of KM;
-
To design a
Structure for a KM Strategy for a National Local Government
association;
-
To outline
the objectives of developing a KM Strategy; and
-
To
establish a functional KM network of partners.

The KM
workshop was attended by thirty (30) participants comprising
representatives drawn from the United Cities and Local Governments of
Africa (UCLGA), the Association of Local Authorities of Tanzania (ALAT),
Association des Municipalites du Mali (AMM), the Association of National
Municipalities in Mozambique (ANAMM), the Association of Local
Authorities in Namibia (ALAN), the Namibian Association of Local
Authority Officers (NALAO), the Local Government Association of Zambia (LGAZ),
the Association of Local Government Authorities of Kenya (ALGAK), the
Uganda Local Governments Association (ULGA), the Urban Councils
Association of Zimbabwe (UCAZ), the Zimbabwe Local Government
Association (ZILGA), the Partenariat pour le Developpement Municipal
(PDM), the Municipal development Partnership for Eastern and Southern
Africa (MDP-ESA) and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities(FCM). |

Government Associations with amendments and inputs made during the
