- Publication and use of plain language guides as a tool in a process of poverty policy down-streaming designed to create knowledge, understanding, feedback, participation, and pro-poor change.
- Poverty policy up-streaming of policy impacts and practice on poor and marginalized communities.
- Public education on development issues.
- Participatory monitoring of poverty reduction strategy implementation in terms of budgets, outputs, and outcomes.
- Promotion of accountability in natural resource management.
- Capacity building to achieve sustainable livelihoods.
- Participatory action planning to identify and exploit livelihood opportunities, taking into account the impact of HIV/AIDS.

Established in 1993 TGNP works in the civil society sector, focusing on the practical promotion and application of gender equality and equity objectives through policy advocacy and mainstreaming. T GNP focuses on macro-economic policies and planning with particular focus on budget processes to address gender equality as well as women's empowerment through training, information, lobbying, and network building. In 1997 TGNP and its FemAct partners started the Gender Budget Initiative (GBI) to promote the design and adoption of tools for gender mainstreaming of budget policies. |
